Krumland Auto Group is a Family Business Invested in the Community

Residents of Chaves County can find their next vehicle at Krumland Auto Group, which has five stores in Roswell and two in Carlsbad. The company stocks models from Toyota, Hyundai, Honda, Nissan, Ford, and Chevrolet, while also managing a top-notch service center.

“My father, Thomas Krumland, moved to Roswell and opened a Toyota dealership in 1997,” says Andrea Moore, Administrative Assistant at Krumland Auto Group. “He believes in treating employees like family, because you spend more time with your workers than your relatives. This is especially true in the automotive industry, where our team members often work nights and weekends to accommodate customers.”

Krumland Auto Group continues to expand and meet the needs of the community. It invests in the people of Chaves County and is committed to giving back wherever it can. 

Two New Locations Are Set to Open Soon

In addition to its seven existing dealerships, Krumland continues to expand. The family is building a brand-new tunnel car wash on 2nd Street that includes a self-service pet spa. Krumland is offering deals on car wash packages for customer automotive customers, so their vehicles can look as good as they run.

Krumland is also building a state-of-the-art Ford store, the first concept by the Ford factory. “We’ll be the first store in the nation with this layout and design,” says Moore. “There will also be a major service center for large vehicles so we can support the oil and gas industry in Roswell.”

The timelines for opening both new locations are fluid, but Moore expects the car wash to open later this year. 

Krumland is One of the Largest Private Employers in Roswell

Krumland Auto Group has around 300 employees across its seven dealerships and other business entities. Because the company is large and multifaceted, there are opportunities for people with diverse skill sets and personalities to thrive.

“If someone is looking for a job, there is an opportunity here,” says Moore. “We don’t just hire car salespeople and technicians. If someone wants more than a job – if they want a career – we can find a place for you.”

Many employees have been with Krumland for more than 10 years and either find their niche or explore new departments that meet their interests and career goals.

This diversity in hiring also makes Krumland a better place to buy a car. It is part of the company’s mission to create a welcoming environment for everyone, including people who are nervous about visiting a dealership for the first time.

“We don’t use high-pressure sales tactics on our customers,” says Moore. “We invite people in and try to find a salesperson who best fits each customer's personality. Our sales team includes men and women, younger and older workers, and people with varying levels of experience, so there’s always a good personality fit available.” 

Krumland is a Long-Term Member of the EDC

Krumland Auto Group is a member of the Roswell Chaves-County Economic Development Corporation (RCCEDC). The company joined because of Tom’s belief that if you are going to be in the community, you should play an active role in it. Moore says she sees how the EDC is working to make Chaves County better and bring more opportunities here.

Beyond its involvement in the EDC, Krumland Auto Group donates to several non-profit organizations throughout the year and participates in various community activities. Moore says there are even too many to name.

“We’re here to make the community better in any way we can,” she adds. “We understand that we’re blessed, and it doesn’t do us any good to be miserly.”  

The Next Generation is Planning to Take Over

Krumland is a family business by accident. When Tom Krumland moved to Roswell from Colorado in 1997, his daughter Andrea had no intention of following him. However, she eventually moved here, and both she and her husband work for the Auto Group.

“I can’t imagine living anywhere else,” she says. “Roswell has provided a great opportunity for my family and me.”

Her children also plan to return to Roswell and become the third generation to work at the Auto Group. Her oldest son is completing his master's degree and then will return to Krumland, while her oldest daughter will return with her husband after he completes his service in Japan.

“Roswell has provided an atmosphere where kids and grandkids want to come back, and that’s a rarity in the small towns,” she says.
