Wagner Equipment Co. is a leader in machine sales, rentals, and services found across Colorado, New Mexico, and West Texas. Companies breaking ground on projects or starting renovations can find what they need at Wagner, which carries a diverse selection of specialized machines to help them reach their goals.

“We offer a variety of products and services, not just rentals or sales of major machinery,” says Connie Tarin, Branch Manager of Wagner Equipment. “As a full-service Caterpillar Dealer, we have a full line of Caterpillar Construction equipment. We also support a power division with air compressors and generators, as well as a truck-and-trailer division.”

Tarin says one of the benefits of being a regional company is that it can draw on resources throughout New Mexico and neighboring states. If there’s something her team can’t handle locally, they can reach out to find somebody who can.

As a Cat dealer, Wagner uses the iconic “Cat Yellow” branding. The same yellow can be found throughout the Chaves County community. Consider Wagner Equipment as you develop your construction plans and see how this company supports economic development from the ground up.

Wagner Equipment Represents Several Different Brands

Wagner has been a trusted Cat dealer since 1976 and has grown its footprint throughout New Mexico over the past 50 years. However, Wagner isn’t limited to Cat products. It sells and rents machines from brands like Polaris, Weiler, and Genie. It handles different safety lifts, aerial equipment, and construction essentials based on customer needs.

For rentals, Wagner handles the maintenance and repairs of its equipment. If your organization rents a machine and it breaks down, one of its technicians will arrive soon and take steps to get it running again.

Wagner primarily works with larger companies, construction firms, oil and gas firms, and government offices, but it also helps small business owners find the right equipment for specific projects and repairs.

Employees Develop Skills With In-House Training

When it comes to hiring, the team at Wagner prefers candidates with some technical skills and experience working with machinery. However, it is also happy to hire individuals with good soft skills – communication, problem-solving, and teamwork – who are entering the equipment world for the first time.

“We provide in-house training for all of our technicians,” says Tarin. “We are Cat-trained in our facilities. Any technician who goes out in the field has the skills and knowledge to make essential repairs.”

Wagner often hires people who have recently completed a certificate at a technical school or who have other educational qualifications. This background, paired with their training, sets employees up for long-term careers at the company. Wagner has nearly 2,000 employees at its locations across three states.

Economic Development is Good for Wagner

Wagner is a member of the Roswell-Chaves County Economic Development Corporation (RCCEDC) and is actively involved in the local community. When more businesses expand to the area, Wagner’s customer base grows. Its equipment rentals help companies break ground on projects and turn buildings into specific businesses.

The regional footprint also allows Wagner to grow with its customers. When a business based in Las Cruces or Carlsbad opens a new location in Roswell, it already has a relationship with Wagner and trusts the quality of the machines available.

“Wagner has 33 locations all across Colorado, New Mexico, and West Texas, one of which is located in Carlsbad, New Mexico,” says Tarin. “Joining the EDC allows us to keep up with Roswell news and celebrate as it grows.”

Beyond getting involved in economic development, Wagner also participates in various local events, including fundraising golf tournaments, financial donations, and sponsorships.

“Economic development is about more than attracting new businesses – it is about creating opportunity, strengthening families, and building a future our community can believe in,” says Mike Espiritu, President and CEO of RCCEDC. “Wagner’s investment in Roswell and its partnership with the RCCEDC help turn that vision into real projects, local jobs, and lasting prosperity across Chaves County. We appreciate their partnership to help us make that happen.”
