Advanced EV Battery Technology Company, GUS Technology, Announces Partnership with Aero Design Services
Roswell, NM —RCCEDC President & CEO, Mike Espiritu, along with Mayor of Roswell, Timothy Z. Jennings, held a press conference to announce that Roswell is in the final stages of introducing a state-of-the-art battery technology company that is planning to collaborate with a local business that is focused on aerospace, namely, operation of drones in a unique way.
Aero Design Services (ADS), a Michigan based company established in 2002, expanded their operation to Roswell in 2020, to serve as one of Roswell Air Center’s maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) companies. Owner of ADS, Don Zaharia, stated the key to his company being successful is understanding the need to continuously “diversify.” Mr. Zaharia embodies an entrepreneurial spirit, which led him to exploring new ways to enhance drone technology and efficiency. ADS will be collaborating with GUS Technology Co. Ltd., a Taiwan based manufacturing company, which utilizes cutting-edge innovation to create the world’s safest, non-explosive battery chemistry that is currently being used to power EV buses being sold for mass transit in Japan and Europe, and soon to be the United States. During the press conference, ADS announced their partnership with GUS Technology, which will supply ADS’s manufactured drones with the advanced battery powered capabilities. In October 2025, ADS acquired a patent for their drone design and is slated for flight mid-February 2026. Mr. Zaharia mentioned that RCCEDC President & CEO, Mike Espiritu has been “available at all times,” with lending support for the two companies to collaborate.
RCCEDC President & CEO, Mike Espiritu and the City of Roswell is currently working with a Taiwanese OEM in establishing their first US based manufacturing plant in Roswell, NM. As alluded to above, the EV buses manufactured by Taiwanese Bus OEM can obtain their power through the battery technology that is exclusive to GUS Technology. In August, RCCEDC President & CEO, Mike Espiritu and Mayor Jennings, visited Taiwan to attend meetings, presentations, negotiations, and the opportunity to learn the leading-edge battery technology being used to power the buses. Some well-known challenges that have made headlines regarding the use of EV batteries are issues with safety and ability to recharge quickly. This is where GUS Technology is set apart from any other EV battery manufacturers in the world. Their batteries not only have been rigorously tested and proven to be safe and non-explosive, but their ability to recharge surpasses that of any other type on the market. These uniquely designed batteries can be fully charged in less than 15 minutes.
Market Strategy Department Director for GUS Technology, Michael Hsiung, briefed the attendees of the press conference and discussed the company identified “a need for a footprint within the US.” This can be achieved by the collaboration of GUS Technology and ADS. Components to assemble EV buses in Roswell will arrive by ship at the closest port of entry into the US and will be sent by railway to be used for final assembly.
RCCEDC and the City of Roswell are working with ADS to identify a building that will house the drone manufacturing company. Mayor Jennings expressed the possibility of landing these projects are directly attributed to the positive rapport with the RCCEDC, City of Roswell, Chaves County, and the State of New Mexico. Furthermore, Mayor Jennings expressed his appreciation for the leadership of Dr. Shawn Powell, President of Eastern New Mexico University-Roswell (ENMU-R). Dr. Powell has worked tirelessly to create programs that support incoming and existing manufacturing companies that support, in turn, alleviating workforce issues that have been rising in the last five years. Mayor Jennings stated that the community is “moving forward together.”
