Even its name is a nod to the Southeast New Mexico community. Travis Hicks, who owns Richland, came up with the name because of how hard local farmers, ranchers, and oil hands work. Through her work at Richland Motors, Gonzalez-Adams tries to bust the myth that Chaves County residents have to travel to larger cities to buy their cars. “Not only does the fair bring us customers, but we want to do what we can to keep youth showing animals and rodeoing,” says Gonzalez-Adams.

“If we want our customers to buy local, then we also need to buy local,” says Gonzalez-Adams.

She has developed and promoted events to encourage local business participation. Recently, she worked to rally volunteers for the National Championship Air Races.
