Richland Motors is more than a Chevy, GMC, Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, and RAM dealer, it is a community-oriented company that believes in supporting local organizations, businesses, and residents. Even its name is a nod to the Southeast New Mexico community. Travis Hicks, who owns Richland, came up with the name because of how hard local farmers, ranchers, and oil hands work. New Mexico is a rich land, and it’s made even richer by the people who live here.

“When you buy a car here, we know you,” says Clarissa Gonzalez-Adams, Marketing Director at Richland Motors. “We develop relationships with our customers that last beyond the purchase process. We will be familiar with your purchase through every oil change and repair.”

Richland transitioned from Desert Sun Motors in 2019 when the previous owner retired. The Chevrolet dealership is located on W 2nd Street, while the Chrysler, Jeep, Dodge, RAM dealer is on SE Main St. Learn more about this local dealership and its impact on the Chaves County community.

Richland Provides Value and Relationships to Roswell Residents

Through her work at Richland Motors, Gonzalez-Adams tries to bust the myth that Chaves County residents have to travel to larger cities to buy their cars. Dealerships in cities like Albuquerque and Las Cruces have larger advertising budgets and can promote their deals across the state. However, Roswell residents can get the exact same deals at Richland Motors.

“We are a local dealership,” she says. “Not only are you supporting a local business by purchasing a car here, but you can become a Brand Champion that unlocks countless benefits like savings on parts, towing and shuttle services, and oil changes. We also offer Powertrain for Life on vehicles purchased from us.”

Richland Motors is proud to sell all American-made cars, supporting the local oil industry in Chaves County. It is also currently upgrading its facility with electric kiosks for customers who are looking for these types of vehicles as well.

Richland Employees Are Immersed in Their Communities

Chaves County residents can also find Richland Motors employees at events across the region. The organization sponsors various sporting and community activities and gets involved through volunteering. Richland Motors is particularly involved in the Eastern New Mexico State Fair because of its impact on the local community.

“Not only does the fair bring us customers, but we want to do what we can to keep youth showing animals and rodeoing,” says Gonzalez-Adams.

Richland Motors strives to work with local vendors and suppliers for its dealerships. This allows the company to support local businesses by working with regional companies and entrepreneurs.

“If we want our customers to buy local, then we also need to buy local,” says Gonzalez-Adams.

Richland Motors is Actively Involved With the RCCEDC

Richland Motors has been a member of the Roswell-Chaves County Economic Development Corporation (RCCEDC) for several years, and Gonzalez-Adams has volunteered her time and marketing skillset to the organization. She has developed and promoted events to encourage local business participation. Recently, she worked to rally volunteers for the National Championship Air Races.

The RCCEDC proudly supports Richland Motors, a standout example of business excellence in Roswell, New Mexico. As a locally rooted dealership, Richland Motors exemplifies the values of quality, integrity, and community commitment that drive economic growth in our region.

Chaves County is a Great Place to Live and do Business

Gonzalez-Adams also speaks to the benefits of living in Chaves County. The desert provides unparalleled experiences in nature, while the mountains aren’t too far away. Roswell has a strong healthcare system, senior living facilities, and other amenities you would expect in bigger cities.

“We’re a big small town,” she says. “We’re working to be a bigger small town and always trying to be better.”

Roswell is also strategically placed in Southeastern New Mexico. It is 200 miles from almost anything, so accessing other parts of the state is fast and easy.
