Roswell-Chaves County EDC receives two NMIDEA Excellence in Economic Development Awards

Roswell, NM — The Roswell-Chaves County Economic Development Corporation (RCCEDC) will be recognized for their achievements in economic development later this month. This year, New Mexico IDEA, the state’s advocacy organization economic development, has inaugurated a series of seven Economic Development Excellence Awards. The RCCEDC was selected as the winner in two of these categories:
• The Business Retention & Expansion Award for the RCCEDC’s Business Retention & Expansion (BRE) Visitation Program in 2023-2024. This award recognizes an innovative Business Retention & Expansion (BRE) program that impacts the ability of a community to retain and grow existing businesses. This award is sponsored by the Regional Development Corporation.
• The Rural Project of the Year for the RCCEDC’s successful effort to secure Roswell as the host city for the National Championship Air Races (NCAR). This award recognizes an economic development project in a rural community that has a significant and measurable impact on a local, regional, or statewide level. This award is sponsored by Chevron, USA.
This award follows another recent announcement that the RCCEDC will receive an Excellence in Economic Development Silver Award from the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) in the Innovative Economic Development category. This is again for their work to attract the National Championship Air Races to Roswell. The organization will be recognized at the IEDC 2024 Annual Conference in Denver, CO, September 15-18th.
