Roswell hosts an active artist community. Galleries line Main Street and Roswell’s Anderson Museum of Contemporary Art showcases the work of artists from all over the world who have participated in the Roswell Artists in Residence Program.
Our vibrant arts community is anchored by the Roswell Museum and Art Center, Southern New Mexico’s pre-eminent art museum. The Center’s 50,000 square foot facility includes 12 galleries dedicated to art and history exhibitions, the Patricia Lubben Bassett Art Education Center, and the recently renovated Robert H. Goddard Planetarium.
The Goddard Planetarium is one of the only planetariums in the Southwest, and of course, we can’t forget the International UFO Museum & Research Center, which attracts more than 220,000 visitors to Roswell every year.
Other community cultural assets include the Historical Center of Southeast New Mexico, the Douglas McBride Museum on the NMMI Campus, Walker Aviation Museum, Gallery of the Roswell Fine Arts League, the Roswell Little Theatre, the Neverland Theatre Company, Way, Way Off Broadwayand the Roswell Symphony.
