Retail Development
The retail sector of the Roswell economy has been in a positive growth phase since 2001, bringing over 50 new businesses and 1,800 jobs to Roswell. This growth is mainly due to our consumer base of over 330,000 people, the abundance of affordable commercial property, our isolated position 175 miles from any metropolitan area making Roswell the commercial hub for southeastern New Mexico, and our refillable water supply which can support a population of more than three million people.
With Four lane divided highways entering Roswell from every direction, our new American Eagle jet service, Roswell preparing to become a Metropolitan Statistical Area of 50,000 people through the 2010 Census, the ever-increasing worldwide interest in Aliens and UFOs, and with over 80 million Baby-Boomers preparing to retire, many to the southwestern United States, Roswell is poised to experience unprecedented growth since it’s incorporation as a city in 1903.
